Dog Grooming Menu

Full Groom

Your dog will receive an 8-point health check, bath and dry, ear clean, styling specific to coat type (clip/scissor/de-shed/hand-strip), hygiene areas, nail trim, fragrance. All done at your dog's pace keeping them calm and building a bond throughout. I offer Reiki as a complimentary treatment for those dogs who are exceptionally anxious.

Bath, Brush & Bits

Ideal for the short or smooth haired breeds, or any breed in between grooms to maintain the condition of their coat. Includes bath and dry, brush over, nail trim, hygiene trim and tidy, fragrance.

Grooming Intro

You may have a young dog who has never been groomed or indeed an older dog. This is an important part of your dog's socialisation, no matter how old to get them used to the sights, sounds, smells and experiences they will encounter during a groom. I will ease them in gently over numerous 1 hour sessions to avoid them being anxious during grooming when they are older.

Nail Trim

Your dogs nails can grow quickly and cause discomfort and pain. It's important to keep them from getting too long. Some dogs may need a few frequent sessions to help recede the quick (blood vessel in the nail) and get their nails to an appropriate length.

"Took Bella for her nails to be clipped (which she hates). Matt was patient with her and despite her wriggling managed to clip all of her claws. Hoping to book a groom when she next needs a tidy up. Lovely chap, lovely service and a happy dog"

"Booked my Rottweiler cross in and she's had a groom within her 2nd puppy intro package. She got exited to see Matt on her 2nd visit (speaks volumes) I travel over half an hour every week for the session and I must say it's worth it. Thank you"

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach me at gundoggroombox@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Currently I groom from home in a salon in my garden. My address is 22 Linburn Drive, Bishop Auckland, DL14 0RG. My home is located just off Greenfields Rd, not far from Tindale.

Of course! I will groom anybody's dog if they are willing to travel to me. I have regular clients coming from as far as Durham, Middlesborough, and Kirkby Stephen.

If you have travelled too far to go home while you wait, there are many coffee shops, restaurants and shops just a short dive away at Bishop Auckland Retail Park located in Tindale where you can kill some time until your dog is ready.

No, I have groomed many different breeds from Shih Tzus to German Shepherds but I like to specialise in gundog breeds, particularly Cocker Spaniels.

Unfortunately not. My insurance will not allow me to work with any banned breeds.

Unfortunately I'm not mobile yet but this will be coming soon. I am aiming to be fully mobile by April 2026 which will mean even less stress for you.

I try to make it as easy and stress free as possible. Simply pop me a message via the contact page, or click any "Book Now" button. I'll then arrange a call with you so we can have a quick chat about your dog and their needs, and arrange a suitable time for an appointment.

Yes, I can get fully booked quickly, as do most dog groomers. To avoid disappointment it's important to book early and if possible, I recommend to book your next few grooms in advance to lock in your preferred slots. A 50% deposit is required at time of booking which can roll over to your next appointment.

You should arrive at my home 5 minutes early for your appointment if possible but please do not be late. The side gate will be open and I will be there to meet you in the salon. On your first appointment I will need to take some details from you, then I will check with you what you'd like, give you an approximate cost and pick up time,  then I'll crack on with the groom. Once your dog is ready you will receive a text message asking you to pick them up. You will then check your dog over to make sure you are happy, pay the remaining balance, and you are happily on your way.

Every dog is different and will depend on the breed, coat type, and lifestyle. Generally, every 4-8 weeks is recommended for full grooms for most dogs, while some breeds may benefit from a Bath, Brush & Bits in between, or instead of a full groom.

The cost can vary as there is so much to consider. It will depend on the breed, size, coat type and condition, behaviour of the dog, and the time it takes. I try to give a "from" and "to" price when clients ask how much, but this can only be confirmed once the groom is complete. A 50% deposit of the "from" price is required upon booking.

Products can vary from time to time as I like to try new things and see what works well, I ensure only the best quality products are used from reputable brands.

Many dog owners come to me because I offer 1-1 grooming and Reiki which is great for nervous or anxious dogs. As I like to work at your dogs pace to keep it as stress-free as possible, this may take extra time and incur a surcharge.

It is important to socialise your puppy as soon as possible with all of the different experiences that they will encounter in their life. This should be done on a regular basis to ease them in gently and not overwhelm them from a young age. They can start as soon as they are fully vaccinated at 12 weeks.
